Future-proof coding and marking technologies
from product to pallet

Muehltal, September 01, 2016 – Coding and marking systems play a key role in manufacturing and packaging processes. With industry- and application-specific codings, products become unique objects that permit full traceability. REA is presenting state-of-the-art coding and marking systems for coding and packaging at the trade fair FachPack in Nuremberg. These are Industry 4.0 compatible and are currently among the most modern, reliable, and fastest printing systems on the global market.

When investing in the future, producers and packaging companies should pay special attention to speed reserves, coverage of international IT standards, high printing quality, and the environmental compatibility of their peripheral technology. Bearing these factors in mind, the Hessian company is further extending its portfolio of cutting-edge coding and marking systems and software solutions. At the FachPack, REA is also presenting a new, mobile 2D code verification system for machine-readable codes.

The broad range of REA JET printing and labeling systems mark both the products directly and their packaging. In this way, they provide the basis for the control, automation, and tracking of entire logistical processes from aggregation (single product to pallet) to production and logistics and even product assessment by end customers. In addition to alphanumeric markings, machine-readable codes are being used more and more. Data Matrix Codes are currently on the rise across all branches. These encode more information than the previous barcodes with a significantly smaller space requirement. Their greatest advantage, however, is that they often remain readable even when damaged thanks to their data redundancy. Thus, manufacturers of camera, scanner, and software solutions for mobile devices are noting double-digit growth rates in the field of decoding 2D or Data Matrix Codes.

REA, with its REA VERIFIER division, has also specialized in the qualitative verification of machine-readable codes and for years has established itself as a technology and market leader in this field. At this year's FachPack, REA is presenting its latest 2D code verifier "REA VeriPad 2D", which is expanding the highly successful product line. The portable, high-performance newcomer verifies codes as of approx. 0.5 cm². It is operated via an integrated tablet without a PC connection and shines with its intuitive, newly developed user surface.

REA also has new developments to report in the area of industrial coding and marking systems. With the brand-new REA JET HR pro OEM, REA meets the requirements of machine engineers and integrators for an extremely high-performance and yet highly compact controller. The print heads are based on the tried-and-tested HP cartridge technology which enables high-resolution prints. The system prints texts, numbers, graphics, and codes at a production speed of up to 762 m/min. This makes it the fastest system of its class, offering considerable speed reserves for productivity gains. Thanks to newly developed inks, the HR is a clean, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective alternative to Continuous Inkjet Technology (CIJ).

Among food producers and packagers, raffles with personalized data and raffle codes to promote customer loyalty are enjoying great popularity. At the FachPack, the REA team is presenting its own solution specially developed for this purpose, REA JET Promotion Software, by arranging a live raffle. Within the framework of the complete solution, even CI-compliant landing pages for e.g. the participant self-registration can be created. Corresponding marketing campaigns for global fast food chains have already been successfully implemented with the REA JET Promotion Software by retaining the corporate identity.

All modern REA JET laser and ink marking systems meet the core requirement of Industry 4.0. The open IT standard XML, integrated web and VNC server, and compact, robust controller designs enable machine engineers and integrators to achieve an up-to-date and easy integration.

REA has an experienced team of experts for the area of labeling technology, from labeling dispensers and pallet labeling systems to complex, customer-specific solutions.
